Barrymore is a well known English comedian. At the height of Barrymore's career he suffered from alcohol problems. Barrymore rose to fame after presenting ITV1 entertainment show Strike It Lucky. Due to his appearance in real life and on television he quickly became of the most popular presenters of game shows and light entertainment programs on British television. Due to the brilliance of his wife who worked as his manager he quickly had a rise in his career and in 1979 he won New Faces. New Faces was a British talent show that was very popular during the 1970s and 1980s. After Barrymore’s win in 1979 he became a regular panelist on Blankety Blank. Barrymore was plagued with bad luck in March of 2001. A partygoer named Stuart Lubbock died at Barrymore’s residence resulting in the arrest of two other men including Barrymore. Barrymore was released from jail due to lack of evidence of him being involved with the death of Lubbock. Barrymore also suffered problems with alcohol during the height of his career. He often wanted to seek help but his wife was in denial and told him he did not have alcohol problems. Due to all of the problems he was undergoing his wife divorced him in 1997. Although Barrymore underwent multiple problems during his career he will not be forgotten for earning many credits on television. He was on a plethora of television shows during his prime.
