MichaelJordanMichael Jeffrey Jordan is a retired American professional basketball player. He is officially known as the "greatest player of all time," according to the National Basketball Association. Jordan joined the Chicago Bulls in 1984 after leaving the University of North Carolina. Jordan was well known for quickly becoming one of the greatest players in the NBA. His talent for the game and entertaining the crowd was magnificent. Not only did Jordan have high scoring games but his leaping ability earned him the nicknames “Air Jordan” and “His Airness.” Jordan could often be seen doing slam dunks from the free throw line. 1991 was a very important year for Jordan, this is when he earned his first NBA Championship with the Bulls. In the two years following he also secured the title. Although Jordan had many great achievements he is also known for being part of a gambling controversy. In 1993 during the Bull’s play off run Jordan was spotted gambling in Atlantic City against the New York Knicks. Jordan also admitted to owing nearly $57,000 in gambling losses. Jordan first retired on October 6th 1993, his reason being “a loss of desire to play the game.” He also mentioned how the murder of his father earlier in the year also helped him make his decision. Jordan did not stay retired for long though! On March 18th 1995 Jordan announced that he would be returning to the NBA with a two word press release titled “I’m Back.” Jordan had many achievements throughout his career and earned a lot of awards. He was also able to secure multiple records showing his great basketball ability. Jordan leaves a great legacy behind him for future stars to follow. But aside from all the glory and awards, the championships and the legacy, everyone really knows why we remember the "Airman". Space Jam. Space Jam is the single greatest movie ever made about basketball, not including Celtic Pride, Hoosiers, Glory Road, or Semi-Pro. Has anyone ever come close to matching the on screen chemistry of Jordan and Bugs Bunny? Doubtful. So while some will remember Michael as the legedary 23, the tarheel, the bull, the stupid wizard (ridiculous choice Mike), I remember him for his superior acting. Don't even get me started on the Hanes commercials with Cuba. Those need some awards or something |
